First Impressions About iPhone Red
First impressions about iPhone red
Apple has announced several new products this week, including a new color of the iPhone “iPhone red”, an entry-level version of the iPad and a video editing application. I had the opportunity to try them briefly before they were launched. Here are my first impressions.
iPhone 7 (PRODUCT) Red
There is not much to say about the red version of the iPhone, except that this is the first time that Apple produces a version of the iPhone for the RED organization, Which is raising money for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.
The phone is exactly the same as the usual iPhone 7 and 7 plus a small (PRODUCT) Red logo on the back.
The color is the same as with the red iPod touch launched a few years ago. This detonates with the more pastel shades usually used by Apple for its products. To summarize, let’s say that the red iPhone is much redder than the pink iPhone is pink. Some people like a lot, but most should probably opt for a more traditional choice when it comes time to renew their smartphone.
Note that some of the sales of the iPhone 7 (PRODUCT) Red will be given to Red, but Apple does not reveal the exact proportion. The company has handed over the US $ 130 million to the organization so far over the past 10 years.
Without a doubt the most interesting announcement of the week. The 9.7-inch iPad takes elements from the iPad Air, iPad Air 2 and iPhone 7, and will be sold from only $ 449 in Canada for the 32 GB model.
With its A9 processor, the iPad should be powerful enough for the vast majority of users. The applications tried on the device, even heavy, were all fluids, as it should with a new tablet.
With this iPad, Apple targets users who own a tablet of the first generations that is no longer able to be updated to the new operating systems of the company, but also those who buy their first iPad and the sector education.
Among the setbacks compared to the iPad Air 2, note that the tablet is no longer endowed with an anti-reflective layer. It is a pity, but it is a compromise that most will accept without problem considering the price.
Interestingly, the 9.7-inch iPad has the same dimensions as the iPad Air 1. Some cases designed for it could, therefore, work with the iPad 9.7, but not Apple’s Smart Cover. The Smart Covert designed for the new iPad will, however, be backward compatible with the iPad Air and iPad Air 2.
The 9.7-inch iPad should be the preferred model by the vast majority of consumers this year.
I also had the opportunity to try Clips, a free app from Apple that allows you to create videos and then share them with other social networks like Instagram and Snapchat or save them on your device mobile.
Even though several have presented Clips as being some sort of response to Snapchat and others, we should not consider Clips as a social network, but rather as a simplified version of iMovie.
At its simplest, Clips allows to film scenes and to assemble them in a small film. The learning curve is minimal, and the result that can be obtained is still quite interesting.
In addition to allowing a traditional editing of his holiday videos, Clips can add filters to his videos, stickers and many other things like that.
Among the strengths of the application, we should note the automatic subtitling rather effective, which writes what one says as one dictates it to the camera. It is also possible to add some fifty specially composed musical pieces for the application, which automatically adjust to the duration of the video.
All this makes it possible to obtain a document that seems a little less formatted than with the trailers of iMovie and the Memories of Apple. I strongly doubt that users will benefit from all the features of Clips, but many should nevertheless find their account by adopting the features that suit them and leaving aside those that are not to their liking.
Clips is a nice surprise on the whole, which I risk well to integrate into my life of every day at the time of its launch in April next.
The iPhone 7 (PRODUCT) Red and the iPad 9.7 inches will be put on sale online today and offered in stores by the end at least.
